making a part usually requires engineering skill - it's not sculpture - the thing needs to meet tolerances etc, and material considerations are often quite important... So while I agree it is probably quite useful for some of these 1-off parts for classic cars where the unobtanium parts are probably worth paying for, I don't feel it is quite the panacea that some claim... if you need to make a lot of parts (or if there is a market for a lot of parts), there is usually a faster (more cost effective) way to make them... but it is pretty cool. Especially for low tolerance plastic parts in classic cars... it would be quite cool to develop a cad repository for these parts.
