If your car was parked for a while it's likely that some oil leaked past the valve seals into the combustion chambers and was causing the smoking. That might account for the high idle too. If the car idled correctly before it was parked then you should drive it a bit before dealing with that. If it continues to idle high the question to ask is, what happens to a car when it sits that could account for high idle? The two prominent answers are; vacuum hoses cracking and corrosion on electrical connections. Also, any leak in the induction tubing between the air mass meter and the combustion chamber is a vacuum leak so check all those pipes and clamps.
