Thanks for that idea Jon -- trouble is that I already have a 3/4" diameter quick release from Sweet Mfg, and it just won't fit with the length, etc. I got it from Speedway Motors, so it's going back to the warehouse.
However, I found one from Grant Products that is plug and play -- has the same GM 36 spline 5/8" diameter, so the sleeve just fits over the steering column stem, and then fastened with a nut. Then, the hub fits over the splined coupling and off you go.....
I appreciate checking with the iceracing site -- I looked at the saabrally site, and couldn't find anything. Then, I stumbled onto the Grant #3001 -- you can see it on Summit Racing. A little bit pricey, but no welding and hopefully easy to get on and off without any cutting......
