use a Slim metal punch and tap the edge of the tripod race where it meets the shaft. Its a machined fit. It shouldn't slide off of the shaft splines very easily. You'll have to do the same thing and tap it back on after you get the new boot on there.
Tip:
Wrap a rag (or some tape around the tripod to avoid the damage of knocking the rollers and needle bearings off of the joint.
Alternate option is to remove the outer CV joint and slip on the boots from the other side of the shaft. Though the outer CV joint can be just as stubborn sometimes too.
