Lower Control Arm Replacement?

92 900S. Cut the old driver's side shock off and when installing nut on the new one to the Bentley recommended torque of 66 lb-ft the threads on the lower shock mount post stripped. Is there any alternative to buying a new control arm?
I'm assuming that if I have to replace it I'll need heavy air tools to get the nuts off. This is not fun lying down in a gravel driveway.
Thanks.
