Just a few thought on ownership(sort of long winded)

My neighbor was looking at my latest Saab, a '92 900 base 4 door brought back from the dead with a few pieces from a parts car (inner driver and tripod bearing). Spent basically nothing for it and now it's a daily driver while I refresh my '90 900. It occurred to me that, at least on this board, there is a group of drivers who have figured out something very basic about affordably owning and driving a great car . 1) Stay with the one make and model you really, really like, 2) Buy for a greatly reduced price when the car is way past it's life of dealer service days (repairs too expensive relative to the perceived value of the car), and 3) Learn and wrench on it yourself as much as possible. By default, if not by design, this is what I've done for the last 30 or so years. I just never articulated it as well as I did to that neighbor, who wanted to know how I could spend so little on a car that not only ran, but ran well and looked pretty nice to boot. I can't thank everyone on this board enough for helping me learn something every time I come here and allowing me to keep on driving such cool cars. Now if I could just find my first Saab again (a 65 MC) for the $500 I paid for it in the day.....
