Looking at purchasing a set of Moog variable rate rear springs (CC205) for about $50 including delivery.
My 1988 900 Turbo seems to have either settled in the back or risen in the front. I had this same problem with my 1993 900S convertible and installed red Lesjafors/Kilen springs both front and back. I am really happy with the Lesjafors/Kilen springs in my 1993 900S convertible. They exactly level the front and rear and have just excellent road handling as compared to the 900S springs they replaced. The original springs were incredibly bouncy.
Unfortunately, I cannot find Lesjafors/Kilen springs for sale anywhere, so now I am looking at Moog adjustable rate.
I am making a couple assumptions here that I either have weak rear springs or bad rear shocks, so, even after reading every post about springs, I don't understand what the real problem is with the high front end and low back end on classic 900s.
A few questions:
1) Do the rear springs just get weaker and compressed from the load over 25 years?
2) Do the front springs stay the same but look like they are overly high due to the back end?
3) Since so many people say Bilstein HD shocks never fail (Oh, you should hear the Saab mechanics in Minneapolis tell me Bilstein HD shocks never fail...), could the rear shocks just be slowly losing height, but not actually failing?
4) If I just replace the rear springs with the Moog adjustable rate, what will that look like in comparison to the front end? Will the car be level front and back?
Would especially like to hear from those who installed this series of Moog CC205 springs and what the difference in height and performance was.
thanks
Marko
