Hi - so in the last month I had the tranny rebuilt and a new CPS installed and she's ('93 900s) good to go. Trying to figure out the source of a noise that seems to occur (seems more likely after the car has been running a bit) at around 2600-2800 RPMS in first or second gear. I hear what sounds like a) a frog gargling or b) a muted, throaty low buzzy sound - it happens on accel and decel but just within that small range of RPM's. When i got the car back from having the tranny rebuilt i thought it had gone away - and it did for awhile - but i noticed it again recently - but can't pin the source down. BTW i did notice that noise BEFORE the tranny was rebuit as well. my speedometer cable in my MGB needs some lubrication so it buzzes now and then- could it be that cable in the Saab??? I also checked that flange where the tailpipe joins the manifold and that's tight ( i thought maybe this was an exhaust sound, like a small hole or loose connection somewhere like a tail pipe hanger). anyway, it's kind of intermittent, but i think it might depend on if the engine is cold or not - when i first take the car out in the morning to drop my wife off at the train station, it's quiet. when i pick her up later in the evening, i sometimes notice it. i hope it's not a gearbox noise. but as i said, it's always in that range of RPM's - 2600 -2800. Thanks for any help!
