Glowing exhaust manifold

Hi guys, I pulled off the interstate in my '80 900t (8 valve B-engine like the 99) last night and popped the hood when the engine tone deepened slightly. Exhaust manifold was glowing red hot! Cat was normal, as was everything else. I'm not heavy on the turbo and take it pretty easy on the car. Let it cool and nursed it home, but it was still glowing when I got there. Any tips? I'm thinking it's either timing or a blockage. Checking timing first.
