1991 convertible. Just had a new top put on by a top drawer shop in the city, and after doing the walkaround, I got inside to power the top down, and it was inop.
Parking brake up -- clicks heard under the seat.
Parking brake off -=- no clicks. So it isn't the parking brake interrupt
Disconnected motor. Connected power to the motor lead and it works.
Replaced both relays -- same condition.
I'm thinking that they used the motor to power down the top to latch as it is really tight now being new. There is an overload protector that comes into play ( according to the Saab OE manual ) when the motor is pumping against a load for 10 seconds. My guess is that the technician pushed the top down to get it to latch, and held the switch, and the overload kicked in......now, the question is, how on earth do you get it to kick out?
