Not being truthful with oneself and refusing to recognize that one made an error is embarrassing.
I reached out in a moment of absolutely frustration.
I remove the valve cover and bumped the engine to TDC checking the marking on the cam gears to see if the chain had skipped a sprocket.
The marking were inline and the flywheel timing mark was at 0.
The only logical answer was that I erred.
I checked my notes (every time I do maintenance, I keep a set of notes in a lab book documenting my procedures -- similar to a flight check list)
The obvious place for an issue was the ignition wires and the distributor rotor.
I checked and I had viewed the rotor 180 deg. off.
Reset to 1-3-4-2 and back to correct functioning.
Saab Background -- The family drives a total of 6 registered and licensed Saab 900's (MY 90 - 93) and with the exemption of transmissions that I have never serviced I suspect that I know where every nut, bolt and wire goes. I keep several more Saab's, pristine and off the road as well as a couple of hangar queens (Saabs in accidents over the years). I also maintain a large inventory of NOS Saab original spares as well as some older, mostly German and some other European spares -- rotors, FW bearings, exhaust systems, etc. I have acquired almost every original Saab dealer manual from the 99 forward and have most of their original tools.
