Rusted through control arm mount Posted by JB90 [Email] (#1688) [Profile/Gallery] (more from JB90) on Sat, 11 Apr 2015 15:53:06 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So I just spent 2 fulls days moving the interior from my parts SPG to my driver (purchased a 2 for one package a couple months ago). Took it for a test drive to see if the gauges were working and after a hard stop (testing ABS) the car almost pulled me off the road to the right. Luckily I was 1/4 mile from home and was going 20 mph..... Got the car home and saw that the passenger control arm mount had almost rusted off. I know this is a common problem on these cars and the upper mount looks great, the lower was covered in grime and I guess I missed it when I was first looking at the car. So my question is, is this a saab killer? I found these, but I'm assuming that its a substantial job to weld them on assuming there is even good metal. And I'm not a welder

I can't imagine parting the car out/scrapping it after just getting it, there is obviously a lot of good aspects to the car of I wouldn't have gotten it. Any info that you folks have in regards to what I am in for to get this fixed would be appreciated. Also any saab body shop recommendations, I'm in Portland Maine. I tried to add a photo link to show the damage, let me know if doesn't show up. Thanks for any insight.
