Just want to clarify, the million mile SPG was an 89 and had its gearbox rebuild once (around 200k). Still an amazing feat for sure, if I remember correctly he was in the body shop 7 or 8 times for hitting deer. It was amazing to see how much corrosion there is on the underside of that car, it makes mine look like it just came off the line.
Not saying this is the case with that picture, but years back when I worked at an Indy repair shop in Delaware we had a customer who's 900 had a "fast" odometer. I remember the first time I brought it in the shop for a service, I looked down and saw 618K and was blown away. I made a comment to the service writer and turns out that wasn't the case. If I remember correctly what he said was at every 1000 miles, it would turn 10,000 or something like that. Anyway's, since the trip still worked the customer didn't want to spend the $$$ in labor and parts to fix it.
