To replace the stock units to the side, and a powered sub under the seat unit to fill out the bass. It is terrible compared to a hatchback (read zigs post), but all in all, it does the job. Of course, it all changes whether you have windows up or down, and roof up or down, but that will always be the case. It is a convertible, after all. Don't remember which unit i ended up with, but i don't think it really matters what you put under there. It is never going to be great, but it is acceptable, at least for me.
Good luck
