I agree! All 2 of the 3 cars were hatchbacks (sometimes called "fastbacks") not quite a station wagon, but not quite a sedan/coupe...but sportier looking than both. The hatchback in the eighties was a way to combine sportiness with practicality as any 3-door 900 owner knows, They would haul almost as much stuff as a station wagon (even an camper!), yet, provided sporty streamlining and a look that was not a sedan....they also provided a place for teenagers to put subwoofer boxes for their ghetto blaster stereos that were popular then!
Today, the hatchback design is relegated only to the lowest end economy cars, unlike in the past where even many of the highest end sports car designs were hatchbacks. Today, a hatchback is for some reason seen as a cheap low-end car, and manufacturers don't want to make them to avoid that label unfortunately.
