Could the difference... Posted by Frak [Email] (#1515) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frak) on Wed, 29 Jul 2015 08:42:18 In Reply to: Re: Clutch hose and threaded ends. Could that very slight difference in the formed head simple be a result of comparing a new part to an old part?
Let's not forget the old line at the slave is mated in an area that get's pretty hot. Heat is often used to form metal. In fact the area the head of the line mate's to may even have formed to the old line. That being said maybe a new OE line wouldn't seal properly there either.
I've had my Saab for 13 years and this is the first time I replaced the clutch hose. 100+ miles since R/R and still no leaks on mine.
Now I'm on to an even bigger question. Why on earth did Saab engineers put the fuel filter canister so close to the passenger spring? With all that room under there it could be 6-12 inches closer to center. Why isn't there a protective cover shielding the cannister or lines from corrosion? It practically sits in the firing line of the passenger rear rally tire.
You know what they say... Engineers design 'em but mechanics fix them.
