There are three nuts for that belt---only two need to come off---where the pump mounts onto the block---just those top two bolts---then slide out the adjusting bolt (with the nut on it) and the belt will come off. Saves a lot of time that way. If you're talking about the lowest bolt/nut (where you reach in underneath the valve cover)--that's a carriage bolt--should come out.
