My choice for 40 yrs has been a stout chain with a come-a-long hook and shackle for the front eyelet with links open enough to accept your hoist hook anywhere along the chain. The rear chain link gets a stout hook that just slips under the alt. adjustment bracket with the alt.bolt slightly tightened. The chain should be loose enough to clear the injectors and fuel rail. The alt. bracket will not bend or break. The hoist hook will balance everything about 4 or 5 links from the front of the chain. I rarely need it but you can also add a small come-a-long from the upper hoist hook to somewhere else on either side on the engine to change the angle a bit.
