Turn Signal Switch repair.

For over a year now I have been living with a worn out turn signal switch. It had been so long that I developed the ability to constantly tend and position the stalk so that I wasn't indicating anything unintended. Finally this weekend I opted to dig in to the switch and see what I could do to remedy the matter.
Upon drilling away the peened ends that retain the contact plate it was obvious the spring plunger that controls the switch's return to rest was out to lunch. The small spring that provides the centering force was broken into 3 pieces. A quick trip to Ace Hardware yielded a pack of springs of the proper gauge and diameter, but too long. After some experimentation I arrived at the correct length and reassembled the switch using some rather fancy "super glue" to hold the contact plate. Reinstalled and back in service, the switch feels and acts like a brand new example.
Needless to say, the cost of a good used switch these days is high enough to assure I feel well gratified with my 3 dollar repair bill.
