You can buy an inline spark plug tester for a few bucks from Amazon or Harbor Freight:
Harbor Freight: http://www.harborfreight.com/inline-ignition-spark-checker-69014.html
Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Fool-proof-Engine-Ignition-Spark-Tester/dp/B0042KJV9U?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0042KJV9U&linkCode=as2&redirect=true&ref_=as_li_tf_tl&tag=thesaabnetwork
You can also use a timing light or a multimeter with a tach clamp for reasonable results.
You should probably also test fuel pressure, although you can certainly start by jumpering the fuel pump relay and listening in the trunk for the pump. On the CIS cars, you can remove the injectors, put them in a jar, and with the pump jumpered gently lift the metering plate in the airbox/distributor assembly and see if they spray. If they do, chance are the pump & pressure are ok. It takes a lot of pressure to "pop" the injectors, so if they do open, pressure is probably ok.
