Hi.. I am having some gremlins on my 92 vert. I have not turned a wrench on it in 2 + years so other than oil ... I am due. 109K on the clock
3+ years ago : -fixed the keyless entry.. noticed small draw on battery and voltage droppage caused it to go crazy.. stopped using keyless entry. also a new starter around this time... put in Optima Yellow as well
- Got optima battery and battery tender.. car could go about a week off the tendor .. more than a week needed tendor to have helthy battery. (I drove 1 to 2 times per week)
- If off the tender for a bit ... I would also get no-boost situations at times.. I believe due to not sufficient power to the APC.. as different APC would have same result.
- LAST WEEK : Car will just die at times usually low speed when using turn signal or brakes. also, I get disco headlights.
Yesterday.. I got NO power turning switch to on position.. totally DEAD car. .. waited a minute.. then started right up.
MY PLAN..
I have acquired 1. a used ignition switch 2. a 14.4 Volt voltage regulator. .. and I will.
1. Clean up grounds.. check wires from alternator to starter.
2. put in new voltage regulator
TEST DRIVE FOR A WHILE... if still problem.
3. swap out ignition switch.
ANY THOUGHTS FROM THE GROUP. ??
first time I dont drive it now given the dead car situation yesterday.
