Boost gauge

I bought some VDO gauges recently to place in the void where the equalizer used to live. The voltmeter and the oil pressure gauge are working great but the boost gauge isn't getting a reading. Most instructions I've found online have said to simply put a T in the vacuum line that goes to the turbo gauge in the dash and it should work, but it's not for me.
I've double checked to make sure the line to the gauge isn't pinched anywhere and it isn't. Has anyone out there installed this gauge before? It's nice to be working on vanity projects instead of clutch slaves and suspension but the Saab always finds a way to frustrate...thanks.
