OK, so this is brainstorm time.....wife's Toyota V6 now pushes 15 psi in one cylinder. The dealer did not torque down the spark plug and it eventually worked out, destroying the threads. All the porcelin and parts of the electrode were missing. The plug was in the pocket of the head attached to the plug coil.
I can't see up inside the head back at the valves -- wondering if there might be some material stuck in the valve, causing the seat not to seal, therefore the cylinder pressure leak.
So, I'm trying to think of ways to see if we can burn off deposits or swarf that is stuck on the valve seats.
1) how about using a hotter plug to try to get the gases to burn, causing heat to burn off the stuff
2) put some sort of whizbang in the fuel ( nitro or toulene ? )
3) try to impose a semi hydraulic lock to force the valve up into the seat.....good lord that sounds dangerous.......
4) drain the oil, have a friend follow and floor it until it turns into a V0 ( Vee Zero )
OK, so it sounds like it might be time to just cross fingers, and hope to find a replacement vehicle. It's hard to give up a one owner, well treated car that the frigging dealer basically destroyed from poor mechanical work -- the center plug was finger tight, and the crush washer was still virgin. So, the plug that blew out of the head destroying the threads just wasn't tightened down -- a Subaru dealer mechanic told me that they would use a battery impact wrench to put in plugs, and when the battery ran down, the last plug would not seat. It appears that is what happened......
