I thought the ABS light can indicate a handful of problems.
And you can get a good impression by pulling the codes from the socket beneath the rear seat.
My 92 900S has had an illuminated ABS light since purchase (~5 years).
The brakes have always worked quite well. But during some maintenance/investigation, I found the left front wheel sensor as pretty scraped up. This must have happened during during the period of the previous owner. I think a rock or something became trapped against the sensor.
I have the replacement sensor, just haven't done it yet.
Pulling the error code on the car confirms this problem.
(I have had to replace the accumulator when the ABS and fluid level sensor warning lights started signaling that there was a bigger problem. But that issue was pretty obvious. And I found a great aftermarket option right here on this board from another forum participant for that accumulator.)
