'93 Turbo Convertible Trunk Lock Posted by eric in vermont [Email] (#2058) [Profile/Gallery] (more from eric in vermont) on Mon, 24 Jun 2019 18:15:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The convertible has been driving great after changing the clutch master. My wife and her girlfriend took it on a 3 day tour of Vermont and loved every minute of it.
When they got back, I was unable to unlock the trunk. Tried over and over and it remained locked in all key positions. Then, magically I turned the key for the 20th time and it opened! I didn't think much of it until tonight. I drove the car on Saturday about 50 miles with no issues. Tonight I decided to move it and the battery was nearly dead. Huh. No lights seem to be on. For some reason I thought of the trunk light, so I went to open it and it won't open again, no matter what. This car has the central lock button, so I played with that for a while. Then tried the key again about 20 times in each position and magically, one time it opened when I turned it to the left so it was horizontal. Huh.
Put the car on the charger, made sure the trunk light switch was in the right position, closed the trunk. Won't open.
I read the manual and there's 3 key positions. None of them work. The central lock switch works fine on the doors, but seems to have no effect on the trunk. The manual talks about a transmitter on the key fob and that the central lock system is integrated into the Saab anti-theft system. I don't have a fob or know how to activate the alarm.
So, what could be the issue? Is there a connection with the battery dying and the central locking system? How will I get the trunk open?
Any help appreciated!
