I have the Bentley manual for the 16-valve 900, and a Haynes manual that covers 8-valve through 1985.
The wiring diagrams in the Haynes book are small and poorly reproduced, but I was able to compare the diagram for the '85 900 there with the '85 Turbo in the Bentley. They appear to be identical. As I surmised the cabling from the distributor connector goes directly to the ignition module, which is located on the left-side inner fender. There are two signal wires plus ground on the pin numbers indicated. One signal wire is gray, the other brown, though colors may be faded and/or insulation crumbling. Using this you can test continuity between the distributor and ignition module. See diagram below...
