What I did is put the gasket sealer on the transmission put the metal transmission gasket on top of it and then I coated the top of the metal gasket one more time set the motor down on top of it.just so you are aware I've only done this to two engines one of them actually just came back to do some different work to it I looked underneath most of it seems dry but there's a couple of oil leaks but I don't know if they're coming from the transmission or further up on the motor somewhere. I would definitely probably go ahead and seal the threads on the bolts at least the ones that the manual says to seal.I've probably put 30 transmissions and motors together over the years eventually they all have leaked on me. I did one in 2016 to my 1990 convertible it actually stayed dry for 3 years. the convertible is actually the second engine I did that to a couple of months ago I've looked underneath it and so far it is still dry but my wife does not drive that one very often. I'm pretty sure the turbocharger has a lot to do with the engines leaking after a certain amount of time.I think that just puts a lot of pressure on all of the seals and eventually they all leaked. Like I said my convertible that I did in 2016 stay dry for about three years but we didn't drive it a whole lot either.I did just put a 9000 together about 30,000 miles ago I'm just now starting to get oil leaking out of the valve cover. I actually used the anaerobic sealant on all of those components. Oil pan front timing cover and all of the other places it says to use anaerobic sealant it has held up really well.I did know a guy that used to anaerobic on a classic 900 and it leaks like crazy but I don't know how well he did the job it's always a guessing game when trying to get these things to not leak it's been fairly tough over the years to keep them dry. Good luck.
