they can only rebuild the earlier version Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Wed, 18 Mar 2020 06:47:47 In Reply to: Re: Re:Power Brake Exchange?, Steven, Sat, 14 Mar 2020 10:43:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
There are no diaphragms available on the 1988/1989 model. I retro-fitted the older booster and master cylinder combo into my 1988 with the later non-ABS calipers. It is a bit more sensitive than the original, but quite drivable (you quickly get used to it, like within the same day you start driving on it). It just take a bit lighter pressure.
I used Powerbrake Boosters referenced above - they did nice work and I have been driving on it for the last 2 years. This is really the only show it town, and, at some point, supplies for this rebuild may not be available. I strongly recommend the retrofit over installing a 30-year old used one. Which reminds me, I need to locate a core and get one to hoard.
