Thanks for posting all that! That said, keeping the original brakes it doesn't sound too promising to me. This car has been super reliable for me and I don't have the time in my life now for messing with the brakes more than the normal service interval, i.e. fluid flushes and replacing pads.

I bought some SAAB service manuals when I got my 1987 900S in 1990. Still kicking around, believe I did get the ones on brakes, so thanks for that tip! I got a front left caliper off eBay this week, plus rebuild pits from Eeuro, so I'll try rebuilding that. Don't have a compressor for air onhand, but perhaps a local shop can help me with that.
