Having not seen a 9000 flywheel I can't be sure, but when I took it off during a pilot bearing and clutch job it appeared to be stock 900.
I painted a white line at 16 degrees. Can't remember now though if I also painted a line at 0...hmmmm. I'll have to check. That would explain a few things!
The cover has been off a few times and it's in a pretty sorry state. Only held in with 3 bolts, it doesn't move though.
Might be worth doing the timing with the cover off. Just to be sure. The timing mark sometimes jumps around when setting the timing, but mostly it's fairly solid.
