I've noticed a little operational issue with my '93 900 Convertible this season.
When I go to put the top down, the rocker switch does not always cause movement of the top. I press it a couple of times and nothing happens. I then press the switch in the top up direction and there's slight movement as it tries to close. Then I press top down and it will work fine. I then pause the movement to close the latches and the same thing *may* happen- no top down movement when I press the rocker. If I then try top up a time or two, top down will then engage.
So it always works in the top up direction, but is finicky in the top down direction.
I checked the archives and the main problem tends to be with the parking brake switch- I don't think that's my problem since it always will move in the top up direction. Right?
So that tells me it's probably a bad rocker switch. Confirm? Or is there something else specific to top down that I should check?
Finally, if it is the rocker switch- what do you recommend? Can it be opened and cleaned? Should I buy a new one or try to find a used one? Does someone have a spare they want to get rid of?
Many thanks!
