start to leak, may also have to replace shaft bearing. You can still buy the seals as a kit and do it yourself, but it involves some special tools to avoid ruining the seals when you try and install them. There is a nice description of what is involved on one of the Porsche sites, (http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/223377-fixing-shaft-seal-seiko-seiki.html). Clutch stuff can be replaced without opening up the internals. Unrepairable stuff happens when there is internal scoring so the vanes and o-rings can't make a proper seal.
