Thx again Chris. My goal is to just get it mobile for around town action. That was my car. Sold it cheap to a friend who needed something quick. He did the drain plug business and gave it back to me when he inherited a newer Toyota. I think during his several years of driving it the pinion bearings have started to hum. I'd like to stuff a glob of JB Weld in the hole just to get it mobile temporarily and see how it runs.My crude plan is to drill/tap six 4mm holes around the damage. It's about a 2X3" irregular hole. Use the 6 bolts to hold a piece if 1/4" mesh hardware cloth over the hole. Work in a bunch of JB.
