So like everybody else has stated the plastic thing is not necessarily the best thing to go off of. I would pull that off put the flywheel on the casting mark and then look at the cams again. Tell us what it says after you've done that. Let's do one thing at a time before you pull the head off. If it is still off then I would take the tensioner off and see if you can reset everything to the correct position. And before doing anything after that I would certainly not start the car without turning everything over by hand. If my memory is correct you can be off by one tooth on each cam and that's about it before valves start hitting. And of course if everything is just wore out you'll need to throw new timing chain on and valve guides and all that good stuff. Tell us what you find.
