1988 turbo boost performance work - crack pressure test? Posted by Saabu [Email] (#1133) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabu) on Sat, 6 May 2023 17:07:33 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Good Day,
stock 2.0L turbo convertible 5 spd that just is so uninspiring to drive for a number of years now that i'm trying to solve it.
today i played with setting base boost according to the Bentley manual.
It was at 3 PSI before any adjustments. no wonder its a slug!
Turned the rod 3 revolutions and BB went to 4 psi.
Another 3 and it went to 5 and occasionally 5.5.
then i plugged the solenoid back in and got the boost to hit 7 psi and could have gone higher i guess but stopped there to re evaluate things.
Its quite a tug to get the rod onto the waste gate so my friend is warning me it might be too much preload on the spring.
Another Saab buddy checked the 'crack pressure' on my 2000 Viggen the other day at 6 psi.
can i do the same test on this '88 and does anyone know the spec for crack pressure on these actuators?
i've not seen this diagnostic test in the Bentley.
is setting base boost basically setting up the actuator's crack pressure?
Thanks in advance,
Wayne
