Tachometer inoperative (most of the time) Posted by DDJ [Email] (#3297) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DDJ) on Thu, 13 Jul 2023 04:57:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
84 8v Turbo, new to me, bought with inoperative tachometer. It's come to life twice - both times on very cold days, and only for a couple of minutes. I have the dash and cluster completely out, see no issues with wiring or foil connections on back - nothing is torn and I see no obvious breaks. Will not come to life. I can hear a very slight rattle from the tach when I shake it - is this normal? Is there a way to test the tachometer with a multimeter? Then, abruptly, charging light came on. Foil issue?
Any advice on diagnostics would be appreciated - automotive wiring has never been my thing.
Thanks!
David
