Low Power Posted by Saabterranean [Email] (#2700) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saabterranean) on Mon, 14 Aug 2023 11:44:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just changed my spark plugs and wires on my 1980 8 valve 900 turbo and am now experiencing low power. In fact, when I took the car in for smog testing (I’m in CA), the tech said he couldn’t get it up to 25 mph while on the rollers (which have much higher resistance than normal driving). Any idea what this could be caused by? Since I changed the plugs and wires, I’m wondering if the low power could be related to that. I used parts that were supposed to fit the car, although the wire to cylinder 4 was shorter than the original.
The smog tech said the car’s performance was consistent with a clogged catalytic converter. Seems like a big coincidence that this would happen right after the changes I made and not be related, but I guess these things happen.
I’d appreciate any advice from the community!
