Hey bwm1945,
Sorry for the confusion, I originally stated that I used 12 gauge wire but was trying to say that I actually used a heavier gauge (physically) such as 8 or 10 gauge instead of the the 12 that I originally said. I checked the wire I used and it was 8 awg.
I've never used the three fat nut method and may be misunderstanding what you have done so far but as I understand, you use the nut method to insert the special tool or equivalent, such as 8 awg wire, bucket handle, spark plug wire etc and then remove the slave, pressure plate and disc together as a unit. Still a bit of wrestling required but it will come out.
Did you insert something to keep the fingers depressed and try to remove all 3 parts together?
