Hi Fellow Saabers,
I've posted a couple of things about my son's '92 900 with the normally aspirated 2.1L motor.
1. It had a serious power steering leak which he kept refilling for months. In the meantime, I planned for the worst- finding a spare rack and getting it rebuilt plus ordering all the replacement hoses. When he FINALLY came over to fix it, it turned out to be nothing more than a cracked hose- the big one from the pump up to the reservoir.
2. Next was a wicked vibration which I diagnosed as a worn inner driver. I got a used one, plus a new tripod bearing and new inner and outer boots. That was exactly the problem and replacement of all that wasn't bad.
Well, the car showed up at my house last night and it sure looks like the harmonic balancer is shot. Later this week, I'll do the chalk test to make sure. In the meantime, here's a couple of questions:
1. First, from what I can see, this motor (the 2.1) takes DAYCO PB1425N harmonic balancer. The 2.0 Turbo motor takes the DAYCO PB1424N part. I can't seem to find a source for the PB1425N, other than one on eBay for $200. I'm assuming I can't use the 2.0 Turbo one, right? Any other sources out there? There are some used ones- no sense in getting a used one is there?
2. Looks like the best writeup is from Townsend Imports. It recommends replacing the crankshaft seal and the oil pump O-Ring, and the crank sensor. Agree with all that? Stupid question, EEURO has the seal- I assume it's the REAR seal I want, even though the engine is in backwards, right?
3. That writeup starts with saying to also replace the "aperture ring that bolts on the back of the pully" for 2.1 motors. What's that?
Any other advice for doing the job, other than what's in the Townsend writeup?

Thanks very much!
