Varied duration of open vs closed oscillating at a fixed frequency. If the base idle is incorrectly set, the valve spends too much time in the cycle on one side or the other and loses the ability to compensate at the other extreme. You can set it with a dwell meter. Use extreme caution when back probing the connector at the AIC as a momentary short from a cob setup will burn out the AIC circuit on the ECU. If disconnecting the lead has no effect, it's possible that the AIC is bad or there's no signal from the ECU. After I burned out an ECU doing this on my 85 turbo, I suffered with the cold hunting idle for years as it was always fine after warmup. Best way to adjust might be to make a custom connector with pieces from a junk harness.
