I got this reply from Pat Price a few months ago...

The book says you have to peel the top back to change the latches but I just removed two latches from my spare top assy in the garage and checked the clearances on my car and this SHOULD work. The latch assy is a series of linkages held in by three screws. Screw one, main pivot for the handle 8mm allen wrench. Screw two, the pivot for thr hook, look at where the hook attaches to the top assy, wiggle it around a look at where it pivots, this screw is accessable from the outside under the weatherstrip, it is recessed into the front bow casting, it is a 4.5(maybe 4)mm allen head, spray it with lube and use a good allen wrench Sears or better, Strip this and you are in trouble, I had to drill one and it destroyed the front bow assy before I got it out. Screw three, The tough one. over the velcro on the inside, reach in and feel around you will feel where the head of the screw is, this is a #2 phillips head screw. You will need one of those ratcheting close quarter screwdrivers that sears sells as you only have about 5/8 of an inch to work in.[little crome handle with a little black bit through the end of it] Move the top up and down to get the access you need the handle shoud slide out from the top.

I needed to replace mine a few months ago but was only able to get one done. I had to drill out the pivot screws (4mm hex) and was left with only one good one. I've been looking for this screw at junkyards but have not had any luck. If you happen to have an extra one left after replacing your latches I would like to purchase it from you.

Best of Luck
