I have heard that at high speed, vacuum can pull droplets of fluid out and let it collect on the hood. I have had my check valves out for years and never had this happen.
A friend of mine claims that they are a saftly issue, because if you remove them it takes a second or so longer for the fluid to spray, b/c it has further travel if it drains back. I think haveing them installed is a saftey issue since they are allways failing.
