wrong fan-switch Posted by Kevin K [Email] (#374) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Kevin K) on Mon, 6 Nov 2000 16:34:49 In Reply to: Still running cool, PedroV, Mon, 6 Nov 2000 15:56:28 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
a non-saab fan-switch is often used as a cheap bandaid to get the most out of a 1/2 plugged radiator. this keeps gage from rising too high, and is effective as long as rad does not get worse, and you don't push hp in heat, etc.
But, if used with a healthy system, the fan runs a lot, needlessly as yours does. This will wear out ea $185 fan much faster than necessary, and will not extend engine life at all. May get you a relay failure also.
check numbers on fanswitch, if not 92C, replace it with proper saab part. your relays and fans will thank you.
