The answers are kind of....both...and kind of. I work for a shop that does (amongst several other things) glass installation.
There are two windshields used in all OG900's. The windshield will interchange from a hardtop to a hardtop regardless of body style (3dr/4dr/5dr), but will not interchange from a convertible to a hardtop (vice versa). The 99 is not listed as an interchange and the NAGS number is different (so there is a difference somewhere). The windshield is held in with the "windshield molding" and sealed with urethane. Any shop that wants a good seal will use urethane or an alternative product with urethane qualities. I have installed 3 windshields in my saabs and there is nothing difficult about it as long as you have the right equipment. Prep the glass very well and be careful with your etching solution. Urethane is much easier to install if it is warmed. If you live in the Northern states you will have a very difficult time getting the seal to take during this time of the year. I would suggest keeping the vehicle in a well heated garage for a few hours prior to installing the glass and keep the urethane under a heat lamp before using it. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. If you are reusing the glass from the '89 and it is not removed be very careful when you take out the broken glass and try to save the molding as this part is $75.00 new. A new aftermarket windshield should cost about $100-$130.00.

ps- don't trust glass shops that can't spell windshield
