The only difference you may have is the front cover of the tranny.
The older cars have solid mounts, and the newer ones have hydralic mounts.

I ran into this problem a couple years ago. I had a turbo tranny with a hydralic mount. I didn't realize the 1984 car had a solid mount. Unfortunately, there was more to the swap than just the covers.
5th gear is a little longer in the turbo tranny. I had to pull apart the trannies to swap 5th gear and then I could mount the old cover on the new tranny. It set me back about 2.5 hours.

It was quite a learning experience. That is the only thing you gotta look for. Make sure the front motor mounts are the same!
