I'm the third owner, bought it with 185,000 miles on it, it now has 232,000. Malachite Green, gold Carroll Shelby 8-spoke wheels. Original engine, turbo, and tranny. Bone stock with the exception of a K & N filter in the original housing. Uses no oil, doesn't smoke, tranny not making expensive noises. The first two owners used nothing but Mobil 1 10W-30 in the engine and trans. and I've continued that regime, changing oil and filter every 3,000 miles. I switched to Redline MTL in the gearbox, though. I also religiously allow a 30 second cool down period for the turbo after every use.
Things replaced: timing chain tensioner, ball joints, both lower control arms, oil pump gearset, harmonic balancer, front brake calipers, turn signal switch. My cruise control went out once, but it was just a cracked vaccum line.
The enterior is spotless, there's nary a door ding on the body anywhere. This has been one well-loved Saab since day one, which is a testimony to how these cars hold up with some TLC. Oh yeah, my seat heaters aren't working either and my headliner is beginning to sag, but I never said the car was perfect! I think 86 was one of the best years for the 900, personally.
