...the chances that a junkyard auto trans will work properly and be reliable are slim. I would assume that a 94 900 conv. would have to have been badly wrecked to wind up in a junkyard. The trans is likely damaged from the wreck even if it does not appear to be. Most BW37's fail at ~100K (mine failed at 132K, yours?) and are generally considered the most unreliable of all SAAB components. Even if it does work, you may wind up where you are now in a few months when the junkyard unit eventually fails. I recommend spending some money on a rebuilt unit with a warranty, or converting to a rebuilt manual trans if you want a vehicle you can rely on. I know it's expensive and I'm sorry to be so negative Ken, but my experience with SAAB transmissions has been: If it's used, it's wasted. Just some advice from someone who has been there.
