Try this in addition to the other checks. It's easy, so you may want to check it first:
If the idle is just sitting at 2k, check the throttle position sensor. It's a black switch that's on the intake manifold, opposite the throttle cable.
Take off the electrical connector on the throttle position sensor and check pins 1 and 2. When the throttle is closed, you should have continuity on those two pins. If you're lucky, it may just be a matter of adjusting the position of the sensor. If not, you'll have to replace the sensor. It's rare that they go bad, but it happens. (It happened to me on my '88 900S. 2k RPM idle and all.)
