I'm not sure silicone seal would stick to it anyway, but I wouldn't feel bad about trying it! You won't have any trouble peeling away the silicone seal. If leaking reservoir seal is your only problem, try to seal it first.
More likely you have a brake fluid/seal interaction problem. Is your brake fluid black as homemade sin? Does it get black within a couple weeks after you flush it with fresh brake fluid?
I had such an interaction on my 87 900T with OEM Girling m/c...after using Castrol LMA DOT4 fluid for years on all my cars, it started reacting with the 900T mc, first signified by leaking reservoir seals. I put in a new mc and used more Castrol brake fluid...about 14mos later the brake would sink slowly to the floor...black brake fluid too, despite annual fluid changes.
So when I replaced the mc yet again, I went to ATE blue brake fluid (color is irrelevant, it also comes in amber, useful for fluid changes). No problem on the new mc for couple years now.
