Serious oil pressure problem! (long)

The oil pressure light came on last night about 5 mins from home so I made it back okay. The oil level was full. This morning I opened up the oil pump and everything looks fine. I changed the o-ring and crank seal and put everything back together. I put the old oil back into the car because it's only about 300 miles old.
However, when I started the car the oil light was still on so I immediately turned it back off. Then I noticed that there were very little black bits of stuff left in the oil drain pan (they look like coffee grounds). They are not metal (or at least not magnetic).
I opened the valve cover and everything looks OK. The black bits don't seem to have invaded the cams. This black stuff has obviously clogged the oil passages or maybe the filter. Besides doing another oil/filter change and seeing what comes out in the oil and whats in the old filter, I have no idea how to proceed. I'm afraid to even start the car.
I need ideas! Please Help!
Thanks in advance.
